Guido Rodríguez: balance, leadership and omnipresence for Valencia CF’s midfield
The world champion with Argentina arrives to add strength in both the defensive and attacking phases
Guido Rodríguez (Sáenz Peña, Argentina - 12 April 1994) is now a Valencia CF player. The new Valencia CF defensive midfielder arrives to help the team in both the defensive and attacking phases with his balance, solidity, quality and vision of the game.
CURRENT SEASON
The experienced Argentine player joins Valencia CF after his spell at West Ham United FC in the Premier League, where he has played 8 matches (6 in the Premier League, 1 in the FA Cup and 1 in the EFL Cup). Last season he played 24 matches with the London-based side.
KEY FIGURE DURING HIS TIME IN SPAIN
Guido was one of the most important players for Real Betis during the five seasons he spent at the ‘verdiblanco’ club. Under Manuel Pellegrini, he became the perfect cog in the midfield that won the Copa del Rey 2021/22 and qualified for the UEFA Europa League (3 seasons).
With Real Betis, he made 173 appearances across all competitions (LALIGA, Copa del Rey and UEFA Europa League), scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
The Argentine defensive midfielder also brings experience at renowned clubs such as River Plate and Defensa y Justicia in the Argentine Primera División and the Copa Libertadores; as well as Tijuana and América in Liga MX. A total of 199 matches developed at a high level, with a trophy haul that includes the Copa Sudamericana, the Copa Libertadores and the Mexican Apertura and Clausura titles.
WORLD CHAMPION AND COPA AMÉRICA WINNER WITH ARGENTINA
With Argentina, Rodríguez was crowned world champion at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, a two-time Copa América winner (2020/21 and 2023/24) and winner of the Finalissima (2021/22). Since 2017, he has made 30 appearances and scored 1 goal for the senior national team.
